SFS worked closely with City of Fairway officials and its recreation committee to develop a master plan outlining strategies for improving their municipal pool through new and improved structures, water features and equipment. Multiple options with associated costs were developed to help stakeholders select the final option. Information, plans and renderings were then developed to communicate project concepts to voters in advance of a referendum to finance the improvements. Voters approved the referendum.
New amenities include a bathhouse and multipurpose community room that can be used year-round, a new pool deck, additional lighting and shade features, a zero-depth pool entry and toddler area with expanded water features. Improvements were made to the pump house.
SFS incorporated passive and active sustainable solutions into the project, ranging from natural ventilation to high-efficiency mechanical systems. Filtered backwash water is utilized for landscape irrigation to reduce operational expenses.
