Liberty Park Family Aquatic Center

SFS provided project implementation, public information/pre-referendum campaign assistance, programming/planning and architectural design services for the new Liberty Park Family Aquatic Center.  Following approval of the project by voters, SFS provided complete architectural services.

SFS worked closely with Park and Recreation staff to prioritize program elements to maintain budget and operational constraints. The project included demolition of the existing pool, construction of six 25-meter competition lanes, two one-meter diving boards, zero-depth area with water play features, water slide and plunge pool, shade structure, grass decks, bathhouse, concession, filter building and new parking area.  Total water surface area is 12,100 square feet.

The importance of night swimming at Sedalia’s Liberty Park Aquatic Center led to the design of a unique up-lighted fabric structure supported by a concrete and steel mast.  This element was detailed to enable seasonable removal and creates a glowing marker at night swims.
