Big Bull Creek Park Police Substation & Maintenance Facility

, Kansas

SFS worked with the Johnson County Park and Recreation District to plan and design a new park police substation and maintenance facility for Big Bull Creek Park, which at 2,060 acres, is the largest in the county park system. The park police substation includes offices, work room, locker room with shower facilities, general and secured storage, and a small interview room that dual functions as an ICC 500 rated storm shelter. The 5,500 square foot maintenance facility includes offices for the park manager and staff, restrooms, breakroom, locker room with showers, general storage, tool room, parts room, two service bays, mechanical room and support spaces. An equipment storage barn was also designed.

A pre-engineered metal structure with stone veneer and wood-look cement fiber siding provides an economical, low maintenance and aesthetically pleasing building. Site improvements include secured parking, signage and landscaping.
