Blue Springs, Missouri
Located along the rapidly expanding Adams Dairy Parkway in Blue Springs, the 8,200 SF Fire Station #5 provides living accommodations for six firefighter and EMS personnel with apparatus storage that includes drive-thru double length bays. The design of the fire station pays homage to long-standing firehouse traditions. A working hose tower provides a vertical marker for the station. In addition, arched openings are incorporated over apparatus bay entries.
Additional design features focus on firefighter health and wellbeing and optimizing department operations. For examples, large roof overhangs provide protection for clearstory glazing which allows natural light to penetrate the apparatus bays and living quarters. The drive-through bays include four-fold side opening doors, decontamination, shop area as well as bay length trench drains, power drops at vehicles, radiant heating and bay exhaust.
