SFS assessed Strong Hall, constructed in 1996, and Carrington Hall, MSU’s first campus building constructed in 1908, for water infiltration on their upper floors and roof levels. SFS performed up-close visual surveys of both buildings via an 85-foot lift. The SFS team also performed water testing per ASTM 2128 at Strong Hall to aid in determining the source of water infiltration. Both building assessments focused on observations of the precast concrete (Strong Hall) and Carthage marble (Carrington Hall) cladding, metal gutters, scuppers and downspouts, and roofing transitions. The SFS team documented both building assessments in a report outlining the existing conditions and recommendations for repairs.
