Blue Springs City Hall

Blue Springs, Missouri

Renovation and expansion of existing facilities to create a more functional City Hall for enhanced delivery of services, a positive work environment for staff and the appropriate civic image to the community

Two 1970s era buildings were renovated and connected to create a new City Hall Complex to better serve the residents of Blue Springs for the next 25 to 30 years. Interior spaces were renovated to provide abundant natural light for staff and to improve workflow and department adjacencies. Much needed meeting and training spaces were added for staff and community use. The new addition provides a two-story daylit entry and new elevator, welcoming the public and improving access for all citizens. Collocating and updating the City’s departments was as important as architecturally connecting the facility with other civic buildings throughout the City. The exterior of the addition works to mediate the differing mass and detail of the site, while materiality and scale provide a connection to the City’s public safety building and new downtown gateway features.
