Location: Lee’s Summit, Missouri
The new Lee’s Summit City Hall building and parking structure reflects city leaders’ vision to create a citizen-centered, service-oriented atmosphere and provide inspiring work spaces for city staff. The 76,000 SF City Hall accommodates multiple city departments, council chambers, public service lobbies, an outdoor plaza for civic events, and an adjacent four-level parking structure. Materials, scale, detail and massing were used to integrate the new facilities seamlessly into the historic downtown context, creating an inviting and open image while incorporating building security and technology needs. Sustainable elements including solar water heating, occupant-sensored lighting/mechanical systems, detained storm water for irrigation and renewable/recycled materials were also incorporated.
