New community park structures informed by existing, enduring design
SFS was part of a team that collaborated with the City of Olathe on improvements to Lone Elm Park, including the design of several new park structures to complement the existing ones. The new structures include:
- 250 SF restroom building at the rendezvous area.
- 1,000 SF concessions and restroom building with an attached shelter area at the soccer complex.
- 900 SF shade shelter at the softball complex.
The existing rendezvous area shelter served as the inspiration for new architectural design features. Its heavy timber structure, ashlar stone perimeter walls and fireplace, and a shingle-clad gable roof were integrated into the new structures’ design.
