New visitor center to enhance the park experience at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore
The new 1,650 SF visitor center at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore lightly touches the National Park’s ecosystem and responds to the architectural vocabulary of surrounding historic properties. Designed to enhance the park experience, the visitor center includes a public lobby, information desk, sales area, conference room, break room and offices/work rooms for park staff. Covered educational and interpretive displays outside the center are also provided. An adjacent permanent canopy and cradle was also designed to protect the historic TWILITE fishing tug.
