An Interview with Aubrey
What is All For Mom's Foundation?
The All For Moms Foundation is a Kansas City–area nonprofit that helps struggling mothers by improving their home environments and connecting them with support resources. Volunteer teams provide services like organizing, deep cleaning, and furnishing homes for moms facing difficult life circumstances such as domestic violence, physical or mental health challenges, financial hardship, or caring for children in foster or kinship situations. Before a mission, the team works with each mom for about eight weeks to uncover the “why” behind the clutter and challenges in the home, ensuring the support provided is meaningful and lasting. Moms also receive six months of free therapy, and the team completes a home follow-up about a month after the mission to help maintain the progress. The goal is to reduce stress and create a healthier, more stable environment for both mothers and their children, made possible through donations and volunteers across the Kansas City metro.
How did you hear about it and what made you decide to join?
I first heard about All for Moms through a news segment featuring founders Allie and Katie. Their mission immediately resonated with me as a single mom living away from family and without a built-in support system. Seeing the work they were doing for other moms was incredibly moving, and it inspired me to get involved and be part of that kind of support for others.
How many missions have you done? How many missions do they do a month, and is it all around the KC metro?
I have participated in four missions so far. The organization typically completes about two missions each month, although the need is much greater; we receive many more applications than we’re able to fulfill. Missions take place across the Kansas City metro and rely heavily on volunteers to make them happen. They are usually scheduled on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and more volunteers are always needed.
Is anyone qualified for a mission?
Yes! Just be prepared to roll up your sleeves… we have a lot to accomplish in only four hours!
After your mission, do you stay in touch? Are there check-ins?
After each mission, we typically share a social media post thanking the volunteers who helped make it possible. One of the most meaningful parts is filming the mom’s reaction (and sometimes the kids’ reactions) when they see their transformed space for the first time. Seeing their joy and relief in that moment makes all the hard work completely worth it.
What has been the most rewarding thing for you since joining? How has this impacted you in life?
The most rewarding part has been seeing the immediate impact a mission can have on a mom and her family. Helping someone feel seen, supported, and lifted up during a difficult time is incredibly powerful. It’s been a reminder of how meaningful community and small acts of service can be, and it has made me even more grateful while motivating me to keep showing up for others.
What made you want to become a board member?
After volunteering on several missions, I saw firsthand how meaningful the work is and how great the need is in our community. I wanted to become more involved and help the organization grow so it can support even more moms. With my background in marketing, I’m excited to help raise awareness, share these powerful stories, and connect more volunteers and supporters to the mission.
Can other people donate/help/join? If so, how?
Yes! There are several ways people can support the All For Moms Foundation. Anyone can volunteer for missions, which usually involve helping clean, organize, and transform homes for moms in need. People can also donate money, which helps cover the roughly $1,000 cost of each mission, or donate supplies like furniture, cleaning products, and home decor used during the home transformations. Supporters can also help by sharing the organization’s mission, hosting supply drives, or partnering through their workplace or community groups to raise awareness and resources.
