SFS Architecture is seeking a creative and self-motivated licensed Project Architect to join our dynamic and collaborative team. The Project Architect will be directly engaged in all technical aspects of the project, lead teams and provide direct input and oversight of the production of technical documents. The ideal candidate will be technically-savvy and have a stellar track record communicating with clients and delivering high-quality work, particularly with public or institutional entities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed architect with minimum 10 years of relevant experience working on complex project types for public clients. Relevant project types may include federal, civic, higher education, religious, recreation, commercial office, and public safety.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Bluebeam.
- Portfolio demonstrating strong technical skills and thorough and coordinated construction documentation.
- Strong collaboration and effective communication internally (with team) and externally (with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors) is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Understand scope of services and notify Project Manager of any request or need for changes in project scope that require additional services.
- Adhere to the project schedule and notify Project Manager immediately of any risk of deviation from project milestones.
- Lead periodic progress meetings with design team and project teams.
- Lead coordination of design work of both in-house team members and consultants.
- Review local, state, and federal codes to determine impact to design and construction.
- Perform constructability and quality control reviews throughout the design process.
- Oversee design integration of building components and systems.
- Lead the implementation of sustainability criteria.
- Collaborate with stakeholders during design process to maintain design intent and comply with owner specifications.
- Present and solicit feedback and/or approvals from project stakeholders.
- Issue meeting minutes for all meetings involving project stakeholders.
- Understand budget parameters and lead design team to maintain design work within budget parameters by coordinating opinions of probable cost.
- Lead and coordinate the development of the project manual and specifications.
- Actively manage the internal design and technical collaboration process including scheduling charrettes, critiques, and quality control reviews.
