Lee’s Summit Fire Station No. 6

Lee’s Summit Fire Station No. 6

Lee’s Summit, Missouri

SFS was commissioned to provide a space needs assessment and feasibility study for Fire Station No. 6. The study determined size, functional relationships and cost comparison of a newly constructed facility versus renovation/expansion of an existing structure.

Following the study, SFS provided complete architectural and engineering services for the design of a new 9,600 square foot, two-bay, drive-through station. The design is a direct response to its residential setting and specific department needs. The station incorporates elements that address continual fluctuations of male/female staff ratios and department training/community meeting room needs. The project includes a watch station, captain’s quarters, compartmentalized sleeping quarters, male/female showers and restrooms, outdoor patio, day room, exercise room, emergency power generator, SCBA refill station, gear locker room, kitchen and dining area.
