Anthony + Eisenhower Community Centers

Manhattan, Kansas

SFS was part of a multidisciplined design-build team collaborating with the City of Manhattan, Unified School District 383 and community stakeholders to design and construct new recreation centers at Dwight D. Eisenhower and Susan B. Anthony Middle Schools in Manhattan, Kansas. The prototype design is adapted to the two middle school sites with a direct connection to each respective middle school. Each 34,000 square foot addition includes the following:

• Four 94’ x 50’ basketball courts
• Viewing/Seating areas next to each court
• Programmatic spaces separated from courts
• Track on ground level

The two facilities, while nearly identical in design, reflect the unique qualities of the neighborhoods in which they are situated and the historical figures for which they are named.
