Transformation of a 1950s era municipal pool into a dynamic outdoor aquatic center with amenities for all ages

Redesign existing municipal pool complex to create modern aquatic center for recreation, competition and health and wellness.

Working with Prosser Wilbert Construction and Westports Pool in a design-build partnership, developed design concepts based on community input obtained during feasibility study completed by SFS and Westport Pools. Construction started at the end of the pool season and was completed in time for a Memorial Day weekend opening the following year.

The transformed aquatic center features a new leisure pool with zero-depth entry and interactive water features, a 25-meter competition pool with bleachers, a flume water slide, a sprayground, renovated bath house and new filter building. The center fits within the footprint of the existing pool complex, which is part of a city park adjacent to City Hall.
