Design of a new civic park, including amphitheatre and seasonal ice rink, that serves as a cataylst for development aimed at creating a downtown district in this first-ring suburban community
Create a plan for a dynamic multi-use park that would attract commercial development and support the community’s goal of creating a walkable mixed-use village center.
In collaboration with Confluence landscape architects, City of Gladstone officials and private developers, developed and explored options for creating a community gathering space anchored by commercial development. As plans for the park were being developed, the design of an adjacent multi-story building began to take shape. The team collaborated with the private developer to maximize the synergy between the building and the park.
Linden Square serves as a central gathering space for the Gladstone community. Amenities include an amphitheater, a pavilion that serves as a stage, an open lawn space that converts to a synthetic ice rink, pedestrian plazas, and a parking lot that can be utilized as a Community Farmer’s Market. Linden Square has played a key role in the more than $33 million in private development that has occured in Gladstone’s new downtown since Linden Square was developed.
