    Blue Springs, MO

Study to determine market demand, location, programmatic features, size and layout, budget and operations and maintenance requirements for a new community recreation center

Provide a family-oriented community gathering space in a fun, innovative environment that promotes lifelong health.

Using an extensive community engagement process, including a statistically valid community survey conducted by ETC Institute, the SFS-led team studied the feasibility of developing a community recreation center in Blue Springs. The study determined there was sufficient demand and support for the center and identified the preferred site, size, program, and costs associated with designing, constructing, operating and maintaining a new facility.

Plans call for an 85,000 SF facility featuring a fitness wing, community wing and administrative space. The fitness wing includes spaces for a wide variety of exercise programs, studios, athletic courts, elevated walk/jog track and a natatorium. Indoor aquatic features include a leisure pool with zero depth entry, lagoon, current channel, flume slides and interactive water features; therapy pool; and whirpool/spa. The community wing provides a variety of spaces, such as an events hall, meeting rooms, classroom with elevated stage, indoor playground, teen room, child watch area and catering kitchen.
