SFS Architecture was one of nine local design firms tasked to redesign the iconic Eames shell chair as part of the Good Design Challenge 2016 sponsored by John A. Marshall Co. Inspired by our community and our collective passion for the game of baseball and our hometown World Series Champs the Kansas City Royals, our designers created a baseball themed chair adorned with distinctive red seams and one leg of the chair clad with a Royals game-played bat.
A signed baseball by Royals all-star catcher and fan favorite Salvador Perez completed the design. The SFS chair won the “Fan Favorite” award. The chair also won 1st runner up in the Judges’ Choice category. Chairs were auctioned off to benefit Ronald McDonald Charities. To top off the competition, SFS’ Bonnie Limbird took home the chair with her winning bid!
